Scope

What can I drive with Class B?

  • vehicles up to 3,500 kg gross mass
  • with up to 8 seats (besides the driver)
  • trailers up to 750 kg – or heavier, as long as the combination stays within 3,500 kg
  • includes classes AM (mopeds/scooters) and L (slow tractors)

How it works

Your training step by step

Theory

14 double lessons of mandatory tuition: 12 on the basic material (for all classes) and 2 on the Class B specific material. Then the theory exam.

Practice

Practice lessons as needed plus the 12 mandatory special drives: 5× overland, 4× motorway, 3× at night. Finally the practical exam.

Class B – FAQ

From what age can I get Class B?
From 18 – or already from 17 with accompanied driving (BF17). You can start the training a few months earlier.
How long does it take?
On average 3–5 months, much faster with an intensive course. It mainly depends on the number of driving lessons.
Can I tow a trailer with Class B?
Yes, up to 750 kg always – heavier trailers as long as the combination stays within 3,500 kg. For more: B96/BE.
What does Class B cost in Munich?
